York University\u2019s commitment to advance social justice, decolonizing, equity, diversity and inclusion across its campuses has once again been recognized by a leading national agency. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Earning a spot for the second consecutive year on the list puts York U among the top organizations across Canada making positive change.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative is part of the Canada\u2019s Top 100 Employers project and evaluates workplace diversity and inclusiveness programs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the review process, adjudicators compared York\u2019s efforts \u2013 including everything from programs for underrepresented groups to institutional strategy \u2013 to those of other post-secondary institutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the reasons York was cited as a Best Diversity Employer<\/a> again was the development of its Decolonizing, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2023-28<\/a>, its inclusion-oriented recruitment processes and the customized training sessions provided by the Centre for Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n

The back-to-back recognition<\/a> builds on York\u2019s ongoing efforts as a progressive university dedicated to a culture of equity and social justice.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, the institution continues to advance efforts to formalize and embed those values across campuses with the DEDI strategy, the\u202fFramework and Action Plan on Black Inclusion<\/a>\u202fand the\u202fIndigenous Framework<\/a>. An embrace of diversity and commitment to equity are also interwoven through the University\u2019s Well-being and Sustainability Strategies.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2025 Best Diversity Employers announcement follows a recent recognition of York\u2019s leadership to demonstrate impact around reducing inequalities \u2013 United Nations\u2019 Sustainable Development Goal 10 (SDG 10).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the 2024 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, York placed first in Canada and 33rd globally in SDG 10<\/a>. Earlier this year, York was named the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) Hub Chair for Sustainable Development Goal 10 \u2013 Reducing Inequality<\/a> for a three-year term.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
