\"PaulThe American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA) has announced it will make York Professor Emeritus Paul Roazen an honorary member at its winter meeting in January in New York.<\/P>

Roazen taught political science in York\u2019s Division of Social Science, Faculty of Arts, beginning in 1971. He is also adjunct professor of psychiatry for Boston\u2019s Tufts-New England Medical Center. He has written numerous biographies of noted psychoanalysts and is recognized for disseminating broader knowledge of psychoanalysis to the public domain. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 1993.<\/P>

One of North America's leading psychoanalytic theorists and intellectual historians, Roazen is a prolific author and has written many of his books on Sigmund Freud and his followers. Many of his books have been translated into more than half-a-dozen languages. His latest book, Edoardo Weiss (The House That Freud Built)<\/I>, was published in 2004. Roazen also wrote Canada's King: An Essay in Political Psychology<\/I> (Mosaic Press, 1998), a psychological biography of former prime minister William Lyon Mackenzie King.<\/P>

Founded in 1911,  APsaA<\/U><\/FONT><\/A> is a professional organization of psychoanalysts throughout the United States and is comprised of approximately 3,500 members. Other honorary members of APsaA include Nobel Laureate neuroscientist Gerald Edelman, biographer Robert Dallek, psychologist Joseph Masling, researcher and divorce psychology expert Judith Wallerstein, research psychologist Drew Westen, historian and biographer Peter Gay, clinical psychologist John S. Auerbach, and psychoanalytic researcher and educator Morris Eagle.<\/P>
