Another fall term is about to begin and the Office of the Ombudsperson and Centre for Human Rights at York welcomes everyone in the community. \"We are a listening ear, a provider of information and referral and a helping hand if you have a complaint, concern or would like a workshop on fairness and human rights,\" says Fiona Crean (right)<\/STRONG>, ombudsperson and director of the centre. \"Our services are confidential. We are at arm's length from the University's administrative structures and are available not just to resolve human rights and ombuds complaints but also to help you prevent them from becoming real problems.\" <\/P>
\n

The skilled staff who work in the Office of the Ombudsperson and Centre for Human Rights provide confidential advice to students, faculty or staff who have questions about processes or concerns regarding how they are being treated in terms of administrative fairness or the provisions of the Human Rights Code<\/I>.<\/P>
\n

Look for Crean and the centre\u2019s staff at various orientation sessions as the fall term begins. \"We look forward to meeting and speaking with as many students, faculty and staff as possible,\" said Crean. \"Look for our first annual report as we begin our second year of operation, and for our open house coming up this fall.\" <\/P>
\n

Visit the Office of the Ombudsperson and Centre for Human Rights<\/FONT><\/A> Web site to learn more about the opportunities to work with the office on upcoming activities in the 2006-2007 academic year.<\/P>
