Report on 2021 YURA AGM

As was the case one year earlier, the 2021 AGM on October 29th was held “virtually,” as a Zoom videoconference, with invitations sent to all registered YURA members and agendas, minutes and reports posted on the Association’s web site in advance of the meeting.

Our guest speaker was the veteran ER physician and award winning medical reporter, Dr. Brian Goldman, who delivered an inspirational talk, supplemented by a visual slide show, about various stresses of life as we age, in which he drew upon his own personal experiences. (More about Dr. Brian Goldman)

Following Dr. Goldman’s talk, which concluded with several questions and answers, the annual business meeting of the Association was called into session by Co-president (academic), Ian Greene. A link to the AGM agenda, minutes of the 2020 AGM and 2020-2021 reports can be found below.

72 YURA members attended the Zoom session with Dr. Brian Goldman, while more than 50 remained to participate in the Association’s business meeting. Again, there was favourable feedback from YURA members about the AGM being held online: the format allows those with challenges of mobility, distance and travel to participate.

Depending on the public health environment, the YURA Executive is considering a hybrid AGM for 2022 that will combine the traditional on-campus event and online coverage.
