Are you starting to fall behind? Are course assignments piling up? Are essays appearing more difficult than you expected? Is it difficult sometimes to know where to begin? Are you feeling overwhelmed? There is help: Join us for a very informative and hands-on two hour workshop: From Course to Assignment to Subject We'll give you tips on how to set the stage for success so that you can stay on top of your assignments and readings and be a more efficient and effective student. You will examine how the course itself provides a blue print that you must understand if you are to successfully complete your assignments; You will learn some strategies for decoding the requirements of the assignment and determining an initial subject and purpose of the essay; and We will provide you with the best approach to starting your research and gathering the most relevant information for your topic. Learn from the Staff and Faculty from Counselling and Disability Services, the Writing Centre and York University Libraries who are facilitating this workshop.
