Personal Statement

I work in 19th and 20th Century Continental Philosophy, primarily on Hegel, post-war French philosophy and the emancipatory social movements of the 1960s and 1970s. I am especially interested in the intersections between language, art and politics. My current projects include a 'Hegelian' history of Hip Hop as an aesthetic culture, and an investigation into the influence of Hegel on the political philosophy and historiography of Martin Luther King, Jr.
