Difference between Ann Gray's Study and other Mass Communications Research

Gender difference is not considered a factor since the research she studied was placed within a mass communications framework, where categories such as the individual, family and social are assumed. The subjects in many of the studies within mass communications were placed in an unnatural setting and assumed a generalized audience. Unlike previous studies, Gray’s focus is only women which makes her research feminist based and she suggests that the individuals meaning of technology is paramount. Women are studied in a more natural setting, (their homes), and Gray places an importance on the definition of "leisure" and how women incorporate it in their domestic roles.
