Wednesday 25 [December 1805]

I preached a Christmas Sermon to a goodly number w[ho] came through the inclemency of the weather. Some exhorted, and afterwards we administered the Sacrament and the Lord gave us a moving [ms. torn] indeed. Some said it was the best they ever had. For my part [I] found my Soul much refreshed. Jesus was sweet and precious. O bless[ed] employment, Preaching salvation in Jesus's Name. O may I never abuse the sacred trust.
