Three Stories

1.
"Psyche Pursuing Venus" was pirated from the vaults of
the Victoria Insurance Company in Berlin, for Hitler's private viewing in his bunker under
the Chancellery. Hitler became Psyche in the picture, bent over venus, making real his
fantasies of his role as conquering hero, lover, and as master painter creating flesh of
paint.....
2. "Venus and Psyche" was owned by the collector Gerstenberg and bequeathed to his daughter. It was destroyed by fire in Berlin at the end of the war..... 3. "The Awakening" remains part of a collection that recalls the bodies of those sisters, mothers, daughters, lovers that went missing. Our story of a quest for the "remains" required to reconstruct our own complete histories..... |
