An 'essay' is an attempt -- in French it means 'to try'. Don't approach the university essay as a boring chore -- or you'll get what you expect. Think of it, rather, as an opportunity to take the time to really engage with a topic related to this course, to develop an argument, and to share your reasoning with your reader... in this case the teaching team. An essay is an uninterrupted space in which you have the opportunity to convince us, engage us, make us think. Bonus point for making us laugh (just kidding?). Give yourself time to write -- and time to re-write. Proofread!

Many of you developed a good thesis statement for the annotated bibliography assignment. If you received positive feedback on your choice, you're ready to begin the final project! If you had difficulty finding or developing a suitable idea, you may wish to select and develop one of the suggested essay topics. You will still need to find a thesis (your particular answer to the question, your 'spin' on it -- we can't write that for you ;)
