Dr. Carveth is Professor of Sociology and Social & Political Thought at York University, Glendon College, in Toronto, and a training and supervising psychoanalyst in the Canadian Institute of Psychoanalysis (IPA). He maintains a private practice of psychoanalysis, analytic psychotherapy and supervision in central Toronto. Although familiar with the perspectives of Freud, the Freudian ego psychologists, Klein, Fairbairn, Winnicott, Lacan, Bion, Searles, Langs, Kohut, the London neo-Kleinians, Spotnitz and his co-workers in Modern Psychoanalysis, the existential psychoanalysts, and others, he is not "eclectic" as his orientation is fundamentally that of a Freudian informed by the Kleinian development of Freud's theory and technique.
