Practice & Supervision

Donald Carveth is an Emeritus Professor of Sociology and Social & Political Thought and Senior Scholar at York University, Glendon College, in Toronto; a Registered Psychotherapist (#001522 CRPO); a training and supervising psychoanalyst in the Canadian Institute of Psychoanalysis (IPA); and current Director of the Toronto Institute of Psychoanalysis. He maintains a private practice of psychoanalysis, analytic psychotherapy and supervision in central Toronto (office near Yonge & Eglinton). Although familiar with the perspectives of Freud, the Freudian ego psychologists, Klein, Fairbairn, Winnicott, Lacan, Bion, Searles, Langs, Kohut, the London neo-Kleinians, Spotnitz and his co-workers in Modern Psychoanalysis, the existential psychoanalysts, and others, he is not "eclectic" as his orientation is fundamentally that of a Freudian informed by the Kleinian development of Freud's theory and technique.

Under certain circumstances to be determined through an assessment process, Prof. Carveth is prepared to offer distance analysis, via telephone or Skype.
