Email notification

Question. I would like to be notified when anyone posts a comment or a comment is held for moderation.

Answer:

  1. Log into the admin area by clicking on the Login link on your blog homepage.
  2. Type your Admin login id and password. Click Login button.
  3. Go to Options > Discussions.
  4. Find the section: E-mail me whenever.
  5. Place checkmarks for both options: Anyone posts a comment and A comment is held for moderation.
  6. Click Update Options if changes are made.

Enabling user registration feature

Question. How to change my blog settings so that students must be registered and logged in to comment on posts?

Answer:

  1. Log into the admin area by clicking on the Login link on your blog homepage.
  2. Type your Admin login id and password. Click Login button.
  3. Go to Options > General.
  4. Under General Options, find Membership section.
  5. Place checkmarks for both options: Anyone can register and Users must be regsitered and logged in to comment.
  6. Click Update Options when done.

A tool that is used to create Posts or Pages of your blog site is called “Write“.

What are Posts and Pages?
Posts are very time-oriented objects. You write them at a specific time, and that time defines their context.
Pages, on the other hand, are most often used to present information that are somehow timeless and always applicable.

For example,

Posts can be used to add:

  • Announcements
  • Post class discussions

Pages can be used to add:

  • Course syllabus
  • Contact information
  • Personal research interests

Links tool

Add Link

  1. Log into the admin area by clicking on the Login link on your blog homepage.
  2. Type your login id and password. Click Login button.
  3. Click Links on the top menu and click Add Link tab.
  4. Enter the website address in URL field.
  5. Type the name of the link you are adding in Link Name field.
  6. If you want to organize links by different categories, choose an appropriate category for the link in drop down menu.
  7. (*Please refer to Link Categories section below for more details on how to create link categories.)
    Click Add Link.
