Note that accommodations should be booked separately (as October is peak season in Napa, it is advised to book immediately): see the accommodation page. Conference registration includes:

  • Admission to main conference sessions
  • Electronic Proceedings
  • Lunches: Monday and Wednesday

Workshop registration includes electronic proceedings and refreshments for all breaks. Member and Student Rates

Member and Student Rates

To qualify for member rates, you must be a member of ACM, ACM SIGIR, ACM SIGWEB. There are discounts for students and student ACM/SIG members. You will need a valid ACM/SIG Id to qualify for ACM member rates. Students will need a valid Full-time Student Id with current registration marked clearly or a letter from their department head certifying student status. The documents must be uploaded using the RegOnline facility.

Terms of Payment

All fees should be paid in advance in US dollars, using credit card (AMEX, Mastercard, or Visa). Full payment must be included with registration. Partial payments and purchase orders for future payment will not be accepted.

Wire transfers are permitted. Wire transfer instructions are provided in RegOnline during the registration process. If paying by wire transfer, your registration will be regarded as incomplete until we have received full payment of your outstanding registration fees.

Terms of Cancellation

Requests for registration cancellation must be made in writing and mailed to the following address:

All refunds will be processed and mailed following the CIKM 2008 Conference dates. Refunds will be made in accordance with the following schedule:

  • Cancellations received on or before August 31, 2008, will receive a full refund minus a $100 processing fee
  • Cancellations received from August 31st, 2008 through October 6th, 2008 will receive a 50% refund minus a $100 processing fee
  • No refunds will be made for requests received after October 6th, 2008
  • No refund for authors of accepted papers will be honored in any case

Visa Support Letter

The Association for Computing Machinery does not issue formal invitation letters for visas. However, ACM can issue a visa support letter. For visa support letters, please send all requests to Laura Bucci at bucci@hq.acm.org with the following information:

  1. Name as it appears on your passport.
  2. Residence and a ship-to address if different.
  3. An indication that you wish to attend CIKM Õ08, even if you are only planning on attending a specific workshop (i.e. iNEWS '08 or DOLAP '08).
  4. Registration confirmation number
  5. If you have any papers accepted for the conference, please indicate whether you are the sole author or a co-author, and provide the full title of the document.
  6. Fax number (**Please note** Visa Support letters are not issued via email).
