Research Paper ProcessAfter the first term in the Master's of Kinesiology in Coaching Programme, students are required to submit a Research Paper proposal. This requires the following:
NOTE: Both Primary and Secondary Advisors should be involved from the onset of the project providing direction for research.
This must be completed before the end of the second term of study for the Master’s degree. See the RESEARCH PAPER GUIDELINES for further details. Also for guidelines that may assist students in the content of the proposal and referencing information, read the MKine SUGGESTED MAJOR PAPER PROPOSAL.
ORAL EXAMINATION APPROVAL After the proposal has been accepted and approved by the Supervisory Committee students must complete the research paper and then do the following: Contact the Programme Assistant at E-Mail: eahs@yorku.ca to make arrangements for the following documentation:
ORAL EXAMINATION All members of the Examining Committee must receive the Research Paper at least fourteen days before the date of the oral examination. The final version should then be submitted to the Graduate Director at least ten days before the final oral examination. If a Committee member has serious doubts about the examinability of a research paper, the Graduate Director must be contacted at least one week before the date of the examination. All three members of the Examination Committee must be present for the oral examination. The presentation shall be approximately 20 minutes in length with 10 minutes for questions. The presentation is open to faculty and students and should be attended by all graduate students. The audience may, at the discretion of the Chair of the Committee, participate in the questioning. The final oral defense occurs immediately after the open presentation. Only members of the Examining Committee may be present for the evaluation and for the vote at the conclusion of an oral examination.
ORAL EXAMINATION RESULTS All the conditions are voted on and recorded by the Committee, as follows:
Copies of the MKine ORAL EXAMINATION REPORT are sent to the student and the Programme Director/Designate.
ORAL EXAMINATION REVISIONS After final revisions of the research paper are completed and approved by the Primary Advisor and the Graduate Director/Designate, the MKine RESEARCH PAPER REVISIONS FORM must be signed by both Committee members and submitted to the Graduate office with two final unbound copies of the research paper. |
