The Unbearable Pointlessness of Being:
Definition of an Oddball Site

So, what exactly marks an oddball site? Is it a particular layout, nifty flashing elements, or how well it adheres to guidelines for websites? No, not really. For form and content, it's what an oddball site DOESN'T have that truly makes it stick out. We could even go as far as to say oddballs are a genre by virtue of being a non-genre!

Rules don't mix well with oddballs. The cardinal rule for oddballs: do not provide useful information.

Some sites may fool you at first, seeming useful. A professional layout lures you in before it finally sinks in: these aren't real products. Others look so bad at first sight, it's hard to expect anything serious from them from these chaotic and ugly sites. Yet others may cause seizures without proper warning, possibly leading to death.
