METHODOLOGY

Once Morritt searched for the significant meanings of Harding's claims, the conceptual framework of this study was created. After developing the structure, techniques were implemented into her process in order to focus the research on women and computer based technologies.

CRITERIA:

The setting for this research took place at a college in the United States. The women selected for this study were graduate students and faculty members, who used computer based technologies. The participants in this study were selected because of their varied experiences with computers as professional women in education. There were nine women involved with this exercise- eight Americans and an immigrant, ranging from the ages 24 to 65 years. Morritt felt that the life stories of these women would reflect the socioeconomic status, ethnicity and age factors that influence their computer experiences.

OBJECTIVES:

Morritt had two objectives for her research:

A) To capture the stories/narratives of women and computer based technologies. This was achieved by having these professional women describe their experiences using this medium. Another part to this objective was to take that data and compare it to the experiences each of the participants by looking at their similarities and differences.

B) To see if the Feminist Standpoint theory framework that she had selected could shed any light on these personal narratives for her findings. Morritt wanted to know to what extent does the feminist perspective influence these computer based experiences in her conclusions.
