Methodological Approaches

For many years now, feminists have been involved in developing the right tools for doing feminist research. There are many individuals who are concerned with doing relevant feminist research and have been contributing their share of knowledge. For example, Maria Mies, believes that, "feminist scholarship should be an integral part of the womenıs movement" L.Van Zoonen, p.128. If feminist research methods are to be a tool of womenıs liberation, then we cannot use the quantitative research methodology. If feminists keep using the traditional methods, then they will again be turned into a tool of domination. The choice of research topics should be influenced by various requirements of the womenıs movement. Another feminist Brenda Dervin, believes that "the political value of feminist scholarship lies in its desire to give women a voice in a world that defines them as voiceless" L. Van Zoonen, p.129, helping women who are silent to speak. Further, Nina Gregg believes that, "in pointing to the availability and intelligibility of research results to women outside the academic world" L. Van Zoonen, p.129.
