The Arts in the Culture of India: A Podcasting Adventure
Instructor to Instructor Bloging
These informal email blogs are a joint pedagogical venture between Professors Denise Nuttall and Renate Wickens. Deliberately transparent, the email blogs offer a glimpse into the process of engagement with diverse cultural materials, with the (f)ailing body, and with an unrelenting physical space. Month of June Month of July Connectivity Issues: June 20-21 2006

You will be happy to know that we now have ethernet connection in my flat in Mumbai. This will save our work study student a great deal of time since he won’t have to go to a cybercafe to upload the podcasts. Our morning lectures are now turning into evening ones!!! So although we’ll try to get stuff happening at the same time everyday, Renate it may be that we get our of synch with this on some days. It is a good thing that I have a friend here who is a mac user, otherwise the broadband technician would not have been able to configure the laptop today. Cheers, Denise

SO I have a connection for less then 24 hours and now the whole Society is without broadband connection. hmmmmm, be prepared for such eventualities, power cuts and the like. Also the closest safe cybercafe is going out of business this week, so we have to travel further afield to send an emai. Rats. Still no real rain to speak of.....humidity level is about 95 percent. I am sweating all the time (my poor little mac, I have to keep wiping the sweat from my hands so I can type on it!) Denise

Okay the broadband service is back on track now. It seems the whole Society went down for most of the day and mine just kicked in at 9:00 this evening. India, what to do? or as we say here kya karo??? I seem to have developed a mild fever alongside my cold, a viral thing lots of folks seem to have at present including two of our students. I am not sure if I brought enough aspirin for the whole group, but they have a pill here which is roughly an equivalent called "Crocin". If the fever doesn't go down tomorrow I'll go to the doctor and check for Malaria. (it feels more like a flu type thing though).

What news in Toronto land? I must say I am starting to fall in love with my new laptop. Hmmmmm.

We seem to be gathering a lot of attention at this end and many have suggested that we publicize the class (tv and what not). I don't think this is a good idea, best to keep things low key if you know what I mean. Since we have many top celebrities coming to class, peoples interests have peaked. Many have suggested that no one has ever attempted to teach a class like this with so many experts from so many fields etc.. and with such top notch artists. Take care, Denise N.
