The Osgoode Hall Law Library offers a range of services to students.
Books and Printed Materials
You will find books on all areas of the law in our stacks. You can access books from the Osgoode collection, as well as all York University libraries through the Omni catalogue. In addition, you may borrow books from other Ontario universities through the York University Inter-Library Loan service. You may collect all materials at the Osgoode Hall Law Library circulation desk.
Course materials and high-circulation core texts are available in our Reserve Collection. These books are available for a 3-hour loan. You can request these materials directly from our circulation desk. Discover more about the Osgoode Hall Law library collection.
Electronic Resources
The library collection contains a variety of electronic resources. You can find eBooks in the Omni catalogue. We also subscribe to a wealth of scholarly journals and over 180 legal databases. Research Guides
The Osgoode Hall Library team has created dozens of Research Guides to assist in your legal scholarship. These guides are a great place to start your research. They cover diverse topics & themes, including topical areas of law, legal citation, current awareness in law, navigating legal resources, and much more! Explore our catalogue of Research Guides.
Instructional Videos
Our Law Librarians have produced a collection of short instructional videos. These videos provide a concise introduction to the various types of research you will conduct during your time at Osgoode Hall Law school and beyond. Topics include secondary source research, case law research, legislation research, legal citation, and research and database skills. Browse through this catalogue to jump start your research skills.
Study Rooms
You may book study rooms for three hours per day for group work. The study rooms can be booked online. Pick up the key from the circulation desk.
Reference and Research Services
Our librarians are here to assist with your research. You can book a virtual appointment Monday-Friday from 10am-1pm. In addition, our librarian team is available for drop-in appointments at the library Monday-Friday from 1:30pm-4pm. We can assist with building search strategies, finding the most useful legal database for your research needs, navigating both electronic and print resources, and refining research topics.
