As part of our commitment to be a trusted, independent voice on issues that affect retail investors, we conduct research to hear directly from investors about their experiences and concerns.

Project Details

Many Canadians rely on investment advisors to provide them with advice and guidance about investment options and strategies. An investor who suffers a loss may wish to bring a claim against his/her investment advisor. This includes (i) reviewing case law and analyzing the various claims against investment advisors, such as negligence, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and fraud; (ii) identifying and analyzing the factors courts consider when deciding whether to impose liability.
