
Erik Allen PhD Candidate
Erik graduated with his undergraduate degree from Ontario Tech University in 2022 with a double major in Forensic Psychology and Political Science. He received his Masters degree in psychology in 2024 working with Dr. Steele and is currently pursuing his PhD in social psychology at York University.
Erik was awarded a Canadian Graduate Scholarship (CGS-M) from the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) for the 2022-2023, and an Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) in 2023-2024 to support his MA research examining wealth bias using implicit and self-report measures. He also received an OGS in 2024-2025 to support his doctoral research.
Erik’s broad research interests are clustered in the disciplines known as social cognition and political psychology and include stereotypes and prejudice, implicit biases, social categorization, political cognition, face perception, and memory, among others. For his master’s thesis he examined implicit wealth biases as they relate to socioeconomic disparity in society.
He also maintains active involvement with Dr. Kimberley Clow’s research lab at Ontario Tech examining issues related to stigmas attached to individuals who have been wrongfully convicted. For more information about Erik, please visit his website at www.erik-allen.com
