PhD in Economics

Our Ph.D. program comprises course work, comprehensive examinations, and a dissertation. Our goals are to equip students with an in-depth knowledge of the core areas in economics as well as that of their chosen fields, and to provide supportive guidance to help them apply that knowledge in substantial and original research projects.The fields of strength of our Ph.D. program are:

Graduates are expected to have acquired autonomy in conducting research and be well-prepared for academic careers and research positions in governments and private corporations. 

  Admission Process  

Note that your application goes first to the Graduate Admissions Office and is transferred to the Department of Economics only if you have met all the admission requirements and your file is complete. Our Graduate Economics Program requires that applicants to our Ph.D. program have a master's degree in economics with a B+ (or better) gpa and strong performance in the (core) areas of Macroeconomics, Microeconomics and Econometrics. Applicants without a Master's degree in Economics should not apply to our Ph.D program. To learn more about the admissions process go to:
