The University Secretary and General Counsel, Harriet Lewis, has responsibility for the Office of the Counsel, University Secretariat, Information and Privacy Office, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Office, the York University Licensing Program and copyright compliance.
Office of the Counsel
The Office of the Counsel supports York University's mission and priorities by overseeing all legal matters generated by the activities of the University and its faculties, schools, departments and administrative units.
University Secretariat
The University Secretariat administers the governance of the University by supporting the Board of Governors and Senate and their respective committees.
Information & Privacy Office
The Information and Privacy Office provides public access to university records and information and protects the personal privacy of the university community in compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). It assists the University in managing its records and information assets effectively.
Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Office
York University is committed to principles of respect, inclusion and equality of all persons with disabilities across campus. The Accessibility For Ontarians With Disabilities Act (AODA) aims to make Ontario fully accessible to persons with disabilities by 2025. AODA compliance is overseen by the AODA Office.
York University Licensing Program
The office coordinates the Licensing Program through the University Licensing Board and administers the licensing of the name, York University, and all the names, insignias, logos, seals, crests, designs, marks or other symbols associated with York University, its Faculties and Colleges.
Copyright
The office oversees the University's compliance with copyright legislation.
