Tell prospective students a bit about the work you do.
I am currently employed as a legal administrator. Part of my job is analyzing contracts, settling disputes, and collecting overdue accounts via small claims court actions. This work requires honed legal analysis and a congenial demeanor towards opposing counsel, clients, and court staff.
I am beginning my Masters in Political Science at York in September 2021. My areas of interest are: political economy, de-development in the global south, Canadian social policy, institutional economic thought, political economy of state policy, and democratization.
Tell prospective students a bit about how your studies at York helped you to get where you are today.
I combined my study of public policy with my political science degree. This allowed me to develop skills in political theory and practice. I was able to analyze contemporary issues in Canadian public policy from both a theoretical and practical perspective. This degree path helped my recognize the faults in the contemporary study of public policy, as well as the disconnection between the practice and implementation of public policy from the political and economic assumptions that build the foundation of the state.
