Giselle Vincett

Dr Giselle Vincett is currently VP for North America for Yordas Group, a scientific and environmental consultancy firm. At Yordas, Giselle leads business strategy and development. Her work also has a strong focus on sustainability and Circular Economy projects, especially where these include stakeholder engagement. With a background in social research, Giselle worked and taught in academia for 10+ years, with an especial focus on how people create meaning in their lives, how they frame and perform belief, on (in)equalities, and how all of these are spatialized.
She has led large funded research projects using innovative research methods and specialized in research with marginalized, hard to access or vulnerable groups. Her first degree was in English Literature (University of Toronto). She then jumped to a Masters degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (York University), where she found her passion for social research. Following that, she moved to the UK to complete a PhD in sociology and religious studies at Lancaster University. She moved into a career in academia primarily at the University of Edinburgh, where she was based in the Human Geography Department and the Institute for Advanced Research. Her varied qualifications and career have given her a strong appreciation for the importance of transferable skills.
