Ryan Wong is an experienced professional in Urban and Regional Planning, specializing in Transportation Planning. With nearly 15 years in the field, Ryan Wong has worked in both consulting and Regional government, establishing expertise as a subject matter expert in transportation planning. Ryan Wong has also served as an expert witness at the Ontario Land Tribunal.
Ryan Wong holds a Master’s of Public Policy, Administration, and Law Degree from York University, completed in 2023. This program provided invaluable insights and sharpened their skills in policy development and governance. The experience was both challenging and rewarding, allowing Ryan Wong to deepen their knowledge of public administration while balancing a demanding full-time career.
Currently, Ryan Wong serves as the Program Manager for Sustainable Transportation and Urban Design at the Regional Municipality of York, where they lead initiatives to improve the region's multi-modal transportation network through new capital projects, public outreach, and education. Their work continues to focus on providing alternative transportation options and fostering sustainable mobility throughout the region.
Throughout their career, Ryan Wong has remained passionate about enhancing the built environment and contributing to the creation of equitable, sustainable transportation networks that benefit both communities and the environment.
My Master's in Public Policy, Administration, and Law at York University deepened my understanding of policy development, governance, and the intersections between law and urban planning. This broader knowledge has equipped me with the confidence and tools to approach transportation planning from a more holistic, policy-driven perspective.
York University provided me with invaluable opportunities to build a network of professionals, alumni, and peers from diverse fields. The relationships I formed with professors, classmates, and alumni have not only broadened my perspective but also opened doors to meaningful mentoring opportunities. These connections have been instrumental in expanding my professional network and have provided ongoing support since graduating from the program.
The program helped me cultivate the skills to lead teams and manage complex initiatives, and I now feel more equipped to drive change and advocate for sustainable transportation solutions.
