Sania Khoso
Program: Kinesiology and Health Science, Faculty of Health (4th Year)
Research Focus: Sania Khoso is working on a scoping review related to the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in predicting mobility decline in older adults. Her main responsibility involves screening articles and identifying relevant data. The study focuses on how mobility outcomes are defined and measured as well as the types of artificial intelligence and machine learning methods used.
Future Goals: She plans to pursue a career in ultrasound and sonography.
Lauren El Solakhy
Program: Biology, Faculty of Science (4th Year)
Research Focus: Lauren El Solakhy is currently contributing to a scoping review investigating how artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches are being used to predict mobility decline in older adults. The project aims to systematically map the current evidence base and characterize how computational models are applied to detect early indicators of functional mobility deterioration across aging populations. Her role includes helping refine and operationalize the database search strategy, conducting structured eligibility screening of studies based on predefined inclusion criteria, and performing systematic data charting to capture key methodological and analytical characteristics across the literature. Through this work, the study aims to identify methodological trends, highlight gaps in the existing literature, and strengthen understanding of how predictive algorithms may support earlier detection of mobility impairment and inform preventative strategies in geriatric health research.
Future Goals: Her long-term goal is to pursue advanced training in medicine while remaining actively engaged in research at the intersection of technology and health systems. She is particularly interested in how data-driven methodologies and computational approaches can be integrated into healthcare to strengthen early detection, inform clinical decision-making, and support more effective preventative strategies. Through continued involvement in research, she hopes to deepen her analytical and methodological expertise while contributing to interdisciplinary work that advances how complex health challenges are identified, studied, and addressed within evolving healthcare systems.
Lenny Alex
Program: Kinesiology and Health Science, Faculty of Health (3rd Year)
Research Focus: Lenny Alex is working on a scoping review related to the met and unmet needs of Black older adults. His main responsibility involves screening articles and extracting relevant data. The study examines challenges and gaps in services affecting well-being, with a focus on healthcare access, social support, and daily living needs.
Future Goals: He plans to pursue a graduate degree in physiotherapy at either McMaster or Western University. As an athlete, he has experienced sports-related injuries and understands the importance of recovery. His goal is to apply his knowledge and skills to help patients regain mobility and return to the sports they love.
Jasnoor Kaur
