Shima Aker

Shima is a Ph.D. candidate in mechanical engineering at the University of Victoria, specializing in microfluidics and nanomedicine. She has developed a high-throughput microfluidic device for synthesizing tunable PEGylated liposomes with diverse applications in drug delivery and cosmetics. Prior to beginning her Ph.D., she worked for two years as a product manager at a biotech startup, where she contributed to the development of nanosynthesis instruments and supported mRNA vaccine research. Her work is driven by a strong commitment to translating engineering and nanotechnology into impactful solutions in medicine and skincare.
