When I was young, I used to watch David Suzuki. I always wanted to be an environmentalist. York University has one of the best environmental studies programs in the country. They have an interdisciplinary environmental program, which means there is politics, there is law, there is urban design. This experiential education experiment was to go to Boyer's Woodlot to conduct decomposition sampling of leaves in which we comprehend how elements are needed for decomposition to occur. This allowed me to see how an experiment is conducted in an actual real-life setting rather than a theoretical closed lab setting. Everything that I have learned is going to help me to make a better impact on the planet, especially with the environmental crisis that we have right now. My name is Abdeali Saherwala. I'm in my third year of Environmental Studies at York University.
