Twelve Chinese students spent three weeks at York University this summer to take part in Jumpstart Your Future: A Career Bootcamp for Undergrads, a collaborative effort between the Asian Business & Management Program and the Faculty of Science.
Over 20 students in the Faculty of Environmental & Urban Change had the opportunity to visit York University’s Las Nubes EcoCampus in Costa Rica and have a once-in-a-lifetime learning experience.
Rooted in concern for the Earth, a new Faculty of Education program will teach youth who are concerned about the environment the leadership skills they need to champion their cause. Rooted & Rising is a certificate program that grew out of the interest Toronto-area youth showed in part in the Fridays for Future environmental demonstrations inspired by teen Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.

York University hosted the Sector Cluster Network luncheon Nov. 8, which brought together employers from York Region and network partners at YSpace in Markham with the goal of fostering relationships that will result in experiential education opportunities for York students.
The York U team from the Lassonde School of Engineering is among the finalists in today’s IDeA student competition. They made the top 10 for their concept to develop glasses for individuals with hearing impairment. The glasses use microphones and speech recognition software to display words spoken to the user.
