About Teams

At Relay for Life, participants form teams to walk or run around the track or path for several hours. Teams can be made up of friends, family, coworkers, or anyone who wants to make a difference through our cause. Each team is encouraged to fundraise in the lead-up to the event, with the goal of raising as much money as possible for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Dress Up Your Team

One of the most fun and memorable parts of Relay for Life is the opportunity to dress up and get creative with your team. In past years, teams have dressed up in all kinds of costumes and themes, from pirates and superheroes to dinosaurs and unicorns.

We encourage you to come up with a theme that is meaningful or fun to your team, and to use your creativity and imagination to bring your costumes and decorations to life. Dressing up for Relay for Life is not only a great way to show team spirit and have fun, but also to motivate and inspire others to join.

Join a Team or Start Your Own

If you're interested in joining a team for Relay for Life at York University, please visit relayforlife.ca/yorku to sign up. When you register, you will have the option to join an existing team or start your own team. If you start your own team, you can invite friends, family, coworkers, or anyone else who wants to join!

Once you have joined or created a team, you can start planning your costumes and decorations, and fundraising for the Canadian Cancer Society. We can't wait to see what you come up with!
