Leadership Exploration and Development

Students can grow their leadership and citizenship skills through Leadership Exploration and Development programs, LEAD Essentials workshops, and Exec YU training.

The LEAD Program helps Faculty of Health students develop leadership, communication, and citizenship skills through hands-on training and peer leadership opportunities.

Leadership Training

Students can build their leadership skills through three core training programs:

Foundational Peer Leadership Training (FPLT)

A training program for students and peer leaders to explore leadership roles, community impact, and how to balance responsibilities and personal wellbeing.

Advanced Peer Leadership Training (APLT)

Building on earlier leadership programs, APLT helps students deepen their understanding of leadership, purpose, and personal impact through reflection.

Emerging Leadership Training (ELT)

Perfect for students new to leadership or involvement at York. This interactive program covers three modules: YU Matter and Belong, YU Thrive and Flourish, and Fostering a Leadership Community, explored through small and large group activities.

Additional opportunities include LEAD Essentials workshops and Exec YU training for students in formal leadership roles within CCSC-affiliated clubs and organizations.

Become a Peer Leader

Faculty of Health students who are passionate about making a positive impact can become CCSC Peer Leaders. Work/Study students and volunteers complete mandatory FPLT and role-specific training to prepare them to support their peers.
