Community Planner, Social Planning Toronto
Sociology 2014

Education is important in this field because you need to develop a certain framework of thinking, often based on theories of anti-racism, and assets based community development, in order to meaningfully make changes in community.

My education provided the groundwork, and the theories which I used as the guiding principles for my work. Community work also involves critical thinking; something which is often triggered by critical lenses and alternative histories - which are taught in sociology at York.
