Yeuhyun (Kevin) Kim (Ph.D. Candidate)

Dinithi Rajaguru (M.Sc. Candidate)

Bibisomaia Rezaee (M.Sc. Candidate)

Somaia joined the Morin group in the summer of 2020 as a NSERC/USRA research award recipient and continued on for her undergraduate thesis from September 2020 to April 2021. She started her M.Sc. in Chemistry in fall 2021. Her research focuses on the kinetics of the oxygen evolution reaction for transition metal catalysts (amorphous and spinel phase). Her general research interests are inorganic and materials chemistry. In her free-time, she enjoys cooking, baking, watching online documentaries and gardening.

Sreena Thekkoot (Ph.D. Candidate)

Sreena Thekkoot has completed her Master of Chemistry in the Morin group and she is currently pursuing a PhD in Chemistry. She is working on the synthesis and analysis of cobalt-based metal oxide thin films with the aim to develop efficient electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction. Her research areas include surface chemistry and material chemistry.

Dr. Mehry Fattah (visitor)

Dr. Fattah was an assistant Professor in Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials Department, in the Materials and Energy Research Center in Iran. She received her Ph.D. from Amirkabir University, Tehran, Iran (Canadian Equivalency, University of Toronto 2016). She has more than 13 years experience in teaching, research and engineering in surface engineering, various types of coatings and improvement of chemical, mechanical and metallurgical properties of metal surfaces and coatings. She is collaborating with Prof. Morin in the area of electrodeposition of nanostructured pure Ni and Ni-SiO2 nanocomposite coatings from deep eutectic solution (DES), with the approach of surface properties improvement.

Tuochen (Sam) Gong, M.Sc. 2019

Tuochen Gong recently completed his Master’s in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at York University. He enjoys experimental research on modifications and applications of materials. His thesis focuses on the synthesis and characterization of photocatalytic nanoparticles. Beyond academic, he likes outdoor activities such as hiking and photography.
