York graduate student receives Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship

The graduate student Elder Pinzon Guerra (Physics and Astronomy, supervised by Sampa Bhadra) has been awarded a Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship for Research in Japan (Short-Term). The fellowship will support Elder for three months to work on his PhD thesis project with Prof. Masashi Yokoyama and Prof. Mark Hartz at The University of Tokyo in Japan . Elder is analyzing data from the T2K experiment to study the oscillation of neutrinos. He joined York University as a MSc student in 2011 from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and transferred to the PhD program in 2012.
