UNESCO Chair Newsletter December 2023

Welcome to the December edition of our UNESCO Chair newsletter!

With COP28 in full swing, many colleagues are currently engaged on the ground in Dubai and we hope you will create a huge global handprint for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) while you are there! For the first time, a dedicated Greening Education Hub will focus with events and conversations on climate education and ESD from 30 November to 13 December 2023 (Green Zone). Check out the event schedule.

Building on the outcomes from COP28, the conversations from the 42nd UNESCO General Conference, and further emphasizing the importance of ESD as a key enabler of all of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the global community will then come together for the ESD-NET Global Meeting in Tokyo (Japan) on 18-20 December 2023.

Please check out the variety of events and opportunities for the last month of this year and feel free to share this newsletter with your colleagues. We hope to see many of you before 2023 concludes. In case we will not have a chance for a direct exchange before the end of the year, we wish you all the best for the upcoming holiday season.

Warmly,

Charles Hopkins & Katrin Kohl

UNESCO Chair in Reorienting Education towards Sustainability, York University
