Who knew that creating smartphone videos would become so timely to online pedagogy? Luckily, three York University professors were ahead of the game with their Smartphone Accommodation Resource Toolbox (SmART), an online platform that teaches users the proper techniques and ethics necessary to create and share their own video works.
Lassonde School of Engineering Professor Dan Palermo was recently recognized as one of the 2018 Outstanding Associate Editors for the “Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering.” The accolade recognizes the efforts and commitment of exceptional members of the journal’s editorial board.

Professor Guneet Kaur from Hong Kong Baptist University is hosting a special lecture titled, “Circular [Bio] Economy: Turning Waste to Wealth in a waste-based biorefinery approach.” The lecture will take place on Wednesday, May 29, from 10 to 11 a.m. in Room 313, Bergeron Centre for Engineering Excellence.
On March 27, York University and SHAD executives joined for the public announcement that York University was being designated as Canada’s 17th SHAD campus.
The facility, which is geared to be an experimental platform for collaboration between academia and industry, will bring more revenue to the Canadian autonomous unmanned vehicles industry, create jobs and foster additional study opportunities for students.
The Canadian Engineering Competition took place earlier this month at the University of Waterloo. Three teams from Lassonde competed against the top 150 students in the country, with the programming team placing second.
