Peer Mentoring

UPSA is proud to have a diverse team of upper-year Peer Mentors, ensuring that we can help as many Psychology undergraduate students as possible. Peer Mentors can offer advice and guidance on areas of academic development, health & wellness, campus involvement, experiential education (co-op, internships, volunteering, Work-Study, research opportunities), professional or graduate school admissions, student financial services and budgeting, building relationships on campus, residence life, and much more!

How does Mentoring work?

Any York University student may join our Activity Sessions, which offer a wide array of academic and entertainment-focused activities and time to answer any questions you may have. You may see the Schedule for the activity sessions on the appropriate tab on this website! On the other hand, weekly informational emails are available to mentees who opt into our program. You can also request an alternative meeting time with your mentor via email. First-year students are automatically matched with a mentor, however, ALL undergraduate students can opt-in for mentoring by filling out the Assign Me a Mentor form.

How do I book an appointment?

If you would like an appointment with a mentor, please read the safety information details on our main website and email either your assigned mentor to set an appointment. If you would like to consult with another mentor, please email upsamentorship@gmail.com for more assistance.

*You must be already assigned a mentor to set up an appointment. If you are not assigned you may opt-in by filling the Assign Me a Mentor form.

Why would I want a Mentor?

York University has a plethora of programs, tools, and services designed to assist you. Peer Mentoring channels that information through advice, recommendation, and personal experiences. We can direct you to many helpful resources and also assist with your transition to or navigation of University life.

Activity Sessions

These are group meetings facilitated by your mentors. You may attend as many as you like.

They will include activities and information related to hobbies, social interests, and York life, depending on what mentees would like. This is a great opportunity to meet other York students!

Please note that the activities are intended to be 30-40 minutes, but you can still drop into the 2-hour session whenever you like!

Each week we will update the schedule. Just click on the relevant links!
