What is PageRank?

Page Rank is a term that often is mistakenly used to describe where in search results a given URL appears. It's actually one of Google’s many (200+) algorithms and is named after “Larry Page”, one of Google’s founders!

Let's use terms like "Search Result" or "Search Position" instead of "Page Rank" to refer to our pages' search engine popularity.

Keep in mind that since Google began customizing results for each visitor, where your URL appears can vary, so pages no longer have a strict ranking like what may have been reported in earlier years.
