A University recruiter is someone who is in charge of promoting programs offered by their institutions to different schools. University recruitment involves reaching out to high school students, mature students, and students abroad who are looking to pursue post-secondary education or transfer from a college, or university. The role of a university recruiter takes on the responsibility of being a mentor by empowering individuals to seek opportunities that might have been outside their comfort zone. They also communicate with other school representatives around the world in order to help international students attend schools in Canada while ensuring they are not missing out on credits or requirements during the transition. Recruiters hold an important role in educational institutions especially during the beginning of each school year as they are in charge of making sure guidance counsellors in high schools are aware of any changes made to programs by institutions. This ensures the best success for students as they are able to prepare and plan ahead. What differentiates a university recruitment from its “traditional” education based occupations is their ability to facilitate personalized dialogue which truly helps students pursue their goals and aspirations. High school can be a stressful time for students and the plethora of choices for post-secondary education can be a daunting task. University recruiters provide a third party perspective that enables students to critically identify their skillset and its mendable in the programs provided by that university. Overall, a University Recruitment Officer holds a critical role in shaping students' lives in university and creating a foundation for their education. Furthermore, the recruiter has an opportunity to engage with different students in their respective countries to encourage future students to apply to their university.
