Casey Aurin

I am going into my final year of the Specialized Honours Psychology program at York University. I have completed my Honours thesis titled: “Autobiographical Memory Narratives in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder” under the supervision of Dr. Thanujeni Pathman, Dr. Mary Desrocher, and in collaboration with Dr. Jonathan Weiss. My study focused on the ability of children with autism to narrate their memories related to the self in the past. My experience prior to university focuses on the advocacy for the inclusion of children with autism in mainstream services, through my appointment of being the country’s (UAE) ambassador in the Special Olympics World Games in 2019.

Finishing my undergraduate training, I am specifically interested in the neuropsychological aspect of children with autism in relation to their daily adaptive functioning. I hope to pursue graduate studies that provide further insight and training into the neuropsychological aspect measure of symptomatology experienced by children with autism.

Outside of academics, I thoroughly enjoy French baking, playing tennis, and crocheting!
