I'm Divya Nadathur and I'm currently doing my Bachelor of Science in Psychology Honours at York University. My research interests lie in autism interventions and understanding caregiver experiences and impacts. My interests also include addiction and I wish to continue exploring both these areas. I'm excited to be a part of the Perry lab through the REDI program and contribute to ongoing studies. My interest in the field of autism began when I completed a full-time one month internship in India over the summer of 2025 when I assisted educators at a non-profit organization to provide educational support to children with autism and other intellectual disabilities. My work involved engaging children under supervision using AAC devices and other stimulating tools as well as creating accessible educational worksheet materials customized to each child's aptitude and unique interests.
This hands-on experience deepened my interest in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and gave me a firsthand understanding of the experiences and challenges faced by both children and their caregivers. Although I am still exploring my goals for graduate school, I am currently interested in pursuing graduate studies in counselling or clinical psychology.Outside of academia, I love working on my art, journalling, dancing, exploring new places and spending time in nature!
