Alan is a seasoned corporate communication professional with over 18 years of global leadership experience in highly regulated industries, including pharmaceuticals and tobacco. He has held key roles at renowned companies such as Takeda Pharmaceutical, British American Tobacco, Philip Morris International and Triumph International Japan.
Alan’s passion lies in transforming workplace culture through transparent and impactful employee communication. He specializes in change management, employee and executive communications, organizational change strategies, and fostering employee engagement to drive organizational success.
A collaborative leader and compelling storyteller, Alan thrives in cross-functional, multicultural environments. Drawing on his extensive experience with multinational organizations, he develops data-driven strategies and creative action plans that deliver measurable results.
Alan holds a Specialized Honours degree in East Asian Studies from York University, was York’s first exchange student to Meiji University in Tokyo and graduated in 2003 from the inaugural class of the Kellogg/Schulich Executive MBA program. Alan has lived in Japan for over 15 years and is fluent in Japanese.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Alan has a strong interest in dog training and reading body language.
York University played a pivotal role in shaping my personal and professional journey. The diverse environment encouraged me to think globally, while my Specialized Honours in East Asian Studies and international student exchange experience at Meiji University broadened my cultural understanding and adaptability. Being part of the inaugural Kellogg/Schulich MBA cohort further honed my leadership skills and strategic mindset, preparing me for the challenges of working in global organizations.
