Prospective Students

Please review the following information about Undergraduate Research Opportunities in the Faculty of Science.

A common route for a summer research project is through the NSERC USRA program.

Undergraduate student research opportunities are competitive, and require evidence of strong grades in coursework. Informal inquires about potential opportunities are welcome via email. Please include a copy of your transcript and a brief statement of what you hope to gain from a research project.

Funding is available for both Masters (MSc, 2 years) and Doctoral (PhD, 4 years) streams in the Graduate Program in Mathematics and Statistics.

All prospective graduate students must formally apply to the graduate program: the deadline to apply is January 15, 2026 for a September 2026 start date. Applicants should explicitly indicate interest in working with me in their application.

Informal inquiries via email prior to application are encouraged. Prospective students should include their CV, a description of any past research experience, and a statement of future research interests in their email.

Please review the following General Information for Postdoctoral Fellows at York.

Prospective postdocs will need to be at least partially supported by their own funding (limited supplemental funding may be available from our group). A common source of funding is the NSERC Canada Postdoctoral Research Award, with a deadline of October 17th.

Postdocs interested in joining the group should inquire via email as soon as possible -- including their CV, and statements of past research experience and future research interests -- so as to discuss possibilities for applying for relevant funding.
