CIAN members awarded CFI-JELF grants

George Mochizuki, Doug Crawford, Georg Zoidl, and Lara Pierce have been awarded Canada Foundation for Integration (CFI) JELF grants. The John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF) is a funding program from the CFI that provides infrastructure funding for leading or emerging scholars to attract and retain top talent. Dr. Kohitij Kar receives the Ontario Early Researcher Award

CIAN member Dr. Kohitij Kar, a biology professor and Canada Research Chair in Visual Neuroscience, received the Early Researcher Award for his research investigating how autistic adults perceive and interpret sensory information differently. His research combines computer modelling and brain activity analysis to simulate how alterations in specific brain regions might lead to autism-like behaviours. Learn more

Dr. Shayna Rosenbaum awarded title of "Distinguished Research Professor" at York.

Congratulations to Dr. Shayna Rosenbaum, CIAN's Associate Director, who has been awarded the most prestigious research title that York University bestows: Distinguished Research Professor. This honour is a testament to Shayna’s outstanding contributions to research excellence. The award was presented during the convocation ceremony on June 17, 2025.

CIAN hosted the 2025 CAN-ACN Satellite Symposium at York University

On May 21, CIAN hosted the CAN-ACN Satellite Symposium, "New Frontiers in Integrative Neuroscience," at York University. The event brought together over 100 participants, including students and faculty. Professor Shayna Rosenbaum recognized with Faculty of Health Dean’s Award

Professor Shayna Rosenbaum, interim director of the Centre for Integrative and Applied Neuroscience, was one of three researchers to receive the Faculty of Health Dean's Award for Research, which recognizes outstanding research contributions. Dr. Rosenbaum's research has produced significant findings on the hippocampal memory system and age-related disease. Read full article
