Faryal Nayab is a Master’s student in the Graduate Programme in Development Studies at York University. She holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Central Asia, where she graduated in June 2025 as Valedictorian. Her undergraduate thesis, which won the Best Diploma Award, examined the causal relationship between maternal employment and child nutrition in Pakistan using the Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey (2017). Her
research used multiple quantitative approaches, including propensity score matching , OLS regression with extensive controls, and an instrumental variable two-stage least squares strategy to address observed and unobserved household characteristics. Her current research interests focus on rural development challenges and gendered economic participation in Pakistan.
