Ayan Guha is currently a British Academy International fellow at the School of Global Studies, University of Sussex, UK. He has written extensively on politics of caste and religion in India. He is the author of The Curious Trajectory of Caste in West Bengal Politics: Chronicling Continuity and Change (Brill 2022), which is the first major book length work on the politics of caste in post-colonial West Bengal. His recent article featured in the Handbook on Racial Inequality, Xenophobia and Populism: All Forms of Discrimination in the United States and Around the Globe (Springer). His research articles and reviews have appeared in reputed journals such as Contemporary South Asia (Routledge), Economic and Political Weekly, Contemporary Voice of Dalit (Sage), International Journal of Discrimination and the Law (Sage), Verfassung und Recht in Übersee / Law and Politics in Africa, Asia and Latin America (Nomos), Studies in Indian Politics (Sage), Democratization (Routledge), and South Asia Research (Sage). He has also written columns for popular platforms such as Indian Express, Print, Scroll, Outlook, Statesman, Anandabazar etc. He currently sits on the editorial board of South Asia Research (Sage).
