Maaheen Ahmed Chandna is an MA student in Development Studies at York University. Her current research examines how intensifying heatwaves in Karachi impact women’s health experiences. With a background in Social Development and Policy from Habib University, Maaheen has worked on public health projects at Aga Khan University, including vaccine effectiveness studies and COVID-19 surveillance research. Her experience spans research design, fieldwork and data analysis with her work featured in The Journal of Infection.
Beyond health, Maaheen co-authored a successful grant on climate, gender and peace, and has led workshops on climate storytelling and advocacy. Her practice combines rigorous research with participatory methods, informed by her teaching and advising roles in academia. She has presented her work in Pakistan and Morocco and was awarded the Best Undergraduate Research Paper for her thesis on governance and risk communication during the COVID-19 pandemic
