C. B. Cragg Award in Natural Science

The annual C.B. Cragg Award celebrates exceptional student contributions in Natural Science. It was set up in 1979 to honor Professor C. Brian Cragg, the founding Director, lecturer and advocate for the Natural Science program at York University. Recipients receive a monetary award and are invited to the annual Faculty of Science Honours and Awards ceremony. Award criteria are as follows:

  1. This award is based on a student’s contributions and efforts to the NATS program above and beyond obtaining good grades in their NATS course. This may include, but is not limited to:
    • class representatives who contribute to the student experience in their NATS course
    • NATS students who show an interest and involvement in the course material above and beyond the work assigned in the course
    • NATS-AID tutors or executive members
    • NATS students who participate in other administrative or service roles within the Division of Natural Science
  2. At the time of nomination, students are required to have completed at least one NATS course with a minimum grade of B.
  3. Students do not have to be enrolled in a NATS course at the time of nomination.
  4. Students must be nominated by a NATS faculty member or NATS office staff.

A call for nominees is sent out by the NATS office every September. Nominations are due October 15 and award recipients are notified in early December.
