1Password protects your data with strong security mechanisms. It uses end-to-end encryption, which means that only you can decrypt and access your data. Data is encrypted locally on your device before being transferred to 1Password's servers. The encryption keys are never shared with 1Password, therefore even 1Password cannot read your data.
Yes, you can securely share passwords with other users through 1Password. The tool offers features like Shared Vaults where you can grant access to specific passwords or items to other users. These shared vaults are also encrypted, ensuring that only authorized users can access the shared data.
If you unintentionally delete a vault, 1Password provides techniques for recovering your data. The application has a Trash feature where deleted things are retained momentarily before being permanently removed. Furthermore, if you use 1Password with a family or team account, you can frequently recover deleted vaults and items from backups that 1Password automatically creates.
Yes, 1Password supports and encourages the use of two-factor authentication (2FA) for an added layer of security. You can set up 2FA using an DUO, which will require you to enter a verification code in addition to your password when accessing your account.
You can sign up for 1Password using either your York email address or a personal email address. The choice depends on your preference and intended use. Using your York email might be beneficial if you are using 1Password for work-related purposes, as it can simplify account management and access within an organizational context.
